ELC Annual is a place for engineering leaders to learn, exchange ideas and build professional relationships. This Code of Conduct sets expectations for attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, staff, volunteers and other participants throughout the event, including sponsored activities and online event spaces. ELC may apply it to conduct connected with the event.

Respectful participation

Treat others with courtesy and professionalism. Welcome different viewpoints and backgrounds, respect personal boundaries, follow reasonable event staff directions, and allow others to participate without disruption. We want an environment in which participants can decide freely whom to meet and what professional information to share.

Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, stalking, unwanted physical contact, sexual attention, threats, targeted insults, repeated unwanted approaches, disruptive conduct, and photography or recording intended to harass or intimidate are not permitted. This applies whether conduct occurs in a session, at a booth, at a sponsored gathering or through an event communication channel.

Sponsor conversations and information sharing

Sponsors and exhibitors are part of the professional exchange at ELC Annual. They may introduce their products, services and events, offer resources and invite attendees to continue a conversation. Attendees decide whether to engage, request follow-up or share their information with a particular sponsor. Our current sponsor list is available at https://sfelc.com/annual2026#partners.

Attendees may choose whether a particular sponsor scans their badge. The information presented at check-in explains the fields ELC may share and the sponsor’s possible follow-up, including marketing emails about its products, services, and events. Before scanning, sponsor staff must ask the attendee whether that sponsor may scan the badge for this purpose. If the attendee voluntarily agrees and presents the badge, ELC may provide the disclosed information to that sponsor, subject to applicable law and the sponsor’s privacy notice.

Sponsor staff must ask before scanning, scan only a badge voluntarily presented for that purpose, and respect a refusal or a request to stop. Staff must not scan an unattended badge or treat event check-in, a visit to a booth, a conversation, or a request for a resource alone as permission to share information for sponsor marketing. ELC may stop a scan practice that does not follow these rules.

An attendee may decline a sponsor badge scan without losing admission to the main event. A choice made for one sponsor does not authorize ELC to provide the same information to every sponsor. Any pre-event company-and-title list or information from a separately sponsored activity is handled separately from booth scans. ELC will assess the applicable notice, permission, and contractual requirements before sharing it; a later booth scan does not authorize an earlier transfer.

The Privacy Policy and the information presented at check-in explain how ELC handles personal information and how to exercise applicable privacy choices. Sponsors are responsible for their own follow-up communications and must provide any unsubscribe or other rights required by law. Accepting this Code of Conduct alone is not permission for sponsor marketing.

Reporting and enforcement

If you experience or witness harassment, an unwanted sponsor interaction, misuse of badge scanning, or another concern, tell an ELC staff member or email [email protected]. Please share enough detail for us to understand the concern. We will handle reports as discreetly as reasonably possible and share them only with people who need the information to respond.

ELC may take reasonable steps to address a violation, including a warning, ending an interaction, restricting access to an activity, or removing a participant from the event. We will consider the circumstances and may involve venue security or appropriate authorities when necessary. Sponsors and their staff are subject to the same event standards.

Thank you for helping make ELC Annual a welcoming place for professional exchange.
